This study aimed to investigate dentists’ treatment choices concerning “repair or replacement” of defective restorations.

The Post-Amalgam Era: Norwegian Dentists’ Experiences with Composite Resins and Repair of Defective Amalgam Restorations -

Amalgam was banned as a dental restorative material in Norway in 2008 due to environmental considerations. An electronic questionnaire was sent to all dentists in the member register of the Norwegian Dental Association (NTF) one year later, to evaluate dentists’ satisfaction with alternative restorative materials and to explore dentists’ treatment choices of fractured amalgam restorations.

Contemporary tooth-coloured filling materials -

Tooth-coloured materials dominate restorative treatments in the Nordic countries today. The most recent developments have concentrated on monomers and filler particles. The present article discusses the composition of and results from laboratory studies on contemporary materials with specific focus on nanocomposites and the clinical relevance of laboratory studies. Furthermore polymerization by LED light curing units and the risk of release of hormone-like chemicals from composites are briefly discussed.

Carbon fiber reinforced root canal posts: Mechanical and cytotoxic properties. -

The aim of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of a prefabricated root canal post made of carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRC) with metal posts and to assess the cytotoxic effects elicited. Flexural modulus and ultimate flexural strength was determined by 3 point loading after CRFC posts had been stored either dry or in water.

How different curing methods affect the degree of conversion of resin-based inlay/onlay materials -

The purpose of this investigation was to measure the conversion of five inlay materials with different curing methods. In particular, the influence of secondary curing in light ovens—that is, additional curing with light and heat simultaneously—was evaluated.
