NIOM is the local organiser of the sixth Northern Lights International Conference which takes place July 30-31st in Oslo. The symposium aims to bring together almost 60 leading experts from 16 countries. The main topics of the conference are bioactive materials and light transmission through ceramics and composites. The presentations and discussions will hopefully lead to a consensus that will be covered in a wide variety of post-conference publications.

Responsible for the scientific programme, Dr. Richard Price, Professor of Prosthodontics at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, started the annual international conference in 2012. This year marks the first time the conference will be organised outside Halifax. NIOM scientists Ellen Bruzell, Hilde M. Kopperud and Frode Staxrud have previously attended the conference in Halifax.

In this year’s scientific programme there will be contributions from NIOM’s Head of Laboratory Dr. Hilde M. Kopperud and Senior Scientist Dr. Ellen Bruzell.

NIOM CEO, Professor Jon E. Dahl, says it is a privilege for NIOM to host the 2018 Northern Lights conference:

– The Northern Lights conference is unique in that scientists and other experts from industry and academia meet and discuss topics related to restorative dentistry. Like previous conferences, I anticipate that consensus will be reached on important aspects of restorative dentistry that will benefit the dental community and patients worldwide.
