Research on biomaterials is a major part of the portfolio of work at NIOM and includes many categories of materials: ceramics, metals/alloys and polymer-based materials. Research underpins both standardization activities and the information and recommendations provided to health authorities, the dental profession and the public
Biomaterials are our main focus of research, which includes many categories of materials: ceramics, metals/alloys and polymer-based materials. Our inter-disciplinary expertise also applies to medical biomaterials, e.g. cardiac and orthopedic implants and surgical instruments.
Extramural scientists are welcome to work at NIOM. NIOM offers research facilities for scientists bringing their own funding and for scientist granted through the visiting scientist program. All research will be in close collaboration with NIOM staff.
