The Norwegian Society of Pharmacology and Toxicology (NSFT) is holding its 46th annual winter meeting at Beitostølen, Norway, January 25th-28th.
The meeting is interdisciplinary. Four NIOM scientists and technical staff are participating with presentations of their research.
Managing Director Jon E. Dahl, Senior Scientist Jan Tore Samuelsen, Chief Engineers Solveig Uvsløkk and Bergitte P. Olderbø and guest student researcher Alexandra I. S. Treimo will attend the meeting.
The topics for the meeting include Alzheimer research, perfluoroalkylated substances and hot topics in risk assessment.
Solveig Uvsløkk and Bergitte P. Olderbø will contribute with presentations about the commonly used dental monomer HEMA and its interactions with protein cysteines, and possible effects on Nrf2 signalling as well as cyto-protection in two different epithelial airway cell lines.
Solveigs presentation is titled “Effects of HEMA on protein S-glutathionylation in BEAS-2B cells”.
Bergittes presentation is titled “Nrf2 signaling and cytoprotection in HEMA exposed human epithelial airway cells”.
Alexandra I. S. Treimo will contribute with a poster about potential neurotoxicity of nanoparticles used in dental materials. Her poster is titled “Are nanoparticles used in dental materials neurotoxic?”.
