New material expert at NIOM
We are proud to announce that PhD-fellow Amund Ruud has joined NIOM effective April. Ruud has a background in inorganic materials science and lithium-ion battery research.
– I’m excited to join NIOMs team, and cooperate with staff and researchers from so many connected fields. I look forward to learning, and getting to know everybody, Ruud says.
Ruud is currently in the final stages of his PhD at the University of Oslo. His research, which is mainly conducted at the Centre for Materials Science and Nanotechnology, is about lithium-ion batteries.
– Thin film depositions of litihium-containing oxides as well as advanced characterization of conversion-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries has been my research interests, Ruud says.
Material research
At NIOM he is expected to work a lot with ceramics and alloys. He has the expertise to look into both bulk and surface structures in connection to bonding, for instance to zirconia.
– With a background in inorganic chemistry, I feel quite at home with material research. My experience in materials characterization and applied research fits well with NIOMs profile, Ruud says.
