Nils Roar Gjerdet is today retired from the general staff, but serves on the NIOM Board and is considered a great resource in the dental field. His main research area is clinical dental materials in general, including alloys, ceramics and polymers, and the potential adverse reactions associated with clinical use of the materials. He has special research interest in orthodontic materials, and have also research activity in materials and devices used in orthopedic surgery.
