Influence of different mould materials on the degree of conversion of dental composite resins -

In this study, the degree of conversion (DC) was analyzed on the surfaces of dental composite resins cured in different mould materials with different irradiation times.

Surface structure of fiber-reinforced composite implant and its effect on the attachment of implant to simulating bone material -

Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and E-glass fibers has been developed for bone segment defect reconstructions. It has been shown that exposed glass fibers predispose intergration of implant to bone. The aim of this study was to investigate how fibers of the implant surface can be exposed by solvent treatment and how the exposed fibers with different orientations effect the attachment of the implant to a bone simulating material

Stress and periodontal disease -

It is recognized that psychosocial stress may lead to different somatic reactions. In dental practice the focus has been placed on the contribution of stress in the development of periodontal disease. Epidemiologic studies combining psychological evaluation of stress with clinical data on periodontitis indicate that the degree of periodontal disease is enhanced by stress factors […]

Over and above titaniums’s acknowledged biological and biochemical compatibility with the body, the biomechanical compatibility can be improved through alloying and heat treatment that reduce its inherent stiffness, bringing it closer to the stiffness of tooth structure, while increasing its strength.

Fracture mode during cyclic loading of implant-supported single-tooth restorations -

The study compared the mode of fracture and number of cyclic loads until veneering fracture when ceramic and metal ceramic restorations with different veneering ceramics were supported by implants.

The development of T cell-dominated inflammatory responses induced by sodium lauryl sulphate in mouse oral mucosa -

The effect of a single time exposure of SLS to the buccal mucosa of mice was compared to one application of the hapten OXA (oxazolone), evaluated by routine histology, immunohistochemistry and ELISA quantifications of cytokines. The SLS concentrations (2%, 4% and 8%) resulted in epithelial surface necrosis at 1-6 h, after 2-6 h accumulation of intra-epithelial neutrophils and at 24 h the main inflammatory cells were mononuclear.

Photoinactivation of Stahpylococcus epidermidis biofilms and suspensions by the hydrophobic photosensitizer curcumin- effect of selected nanocarrier Studies of curcumin and curcuminoides XLVII -

Solubilization and stabilization from rapid degradation by the use of nanocarriers are necessary to exploit curcumin’s phototoxic potential towards pathogenic bacteria.

Feeding tubes for neonates – leaching of plasticizers in food simulating solutions and resulting changes in mechanical properties. -

INTRODUCTION: Leaching of plasticizers, especially the phthalate DEHP (diethylhexyl phthalate), from PVC materials is well-known, and health-concerns are raised with regards to human exposure to DEHP leached from the materials [1]. Still, PVC tubes are used as feeding tubes, also for neonates and prematures. At Haukeland University Hospital (Bergen, Norway), the use of PVC feeding […]

Keramer -

Sealing ability of mineral trioxide aggregate, glass ionomer cement and composite resin when repairing large furcal perforations. -

Evaluating the sealing ability of different repair materials and the pathway of bacterial penetration after closure of large pulp chamber floor perforations.

Detection and quantification of monomers in unstimulated whole saliva after treatment with resin-based composite fillings in vivo -

Resin-based dental restorative materials contain allergenic methacrylate monomers, which may be released into saliva after restorative treatment. Monomers from resin-based composite materials have been demonstrated in saliva in vitro; however, studies analyzing saliva after restorative therapy are scarce. The aim of this study was to quantify methacrylate monomers in saliva after treatment with a resin-based composite filling material.

Mono-2-ethylhexylphthalate (MEHP) induces TNF-α release and macrophage differentiation through different signalling pathways in RAW264.7 cells. -

Epidemiological studies have associated indoor phthalate exposure with increased incidences and severity of asthma in children and adults, and inflammatory effects have been suggested as a possible mechanism. Recent studies report that phthalates may activate mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase p38 and various peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) isoforms. Here we confirm and extend these findings by investigating possible signalling pathways activated in the murine monocyte-macrophage cell line RAW264.7, using mono-2-ethylhexylphthalate (MEHP) as a model compound.
