Thousands of dental professionals, academics and researchers are swarming into Stockholm for the Swedish annual dental congress and Swedental trade fair, held Nov. 16-18 2016.

FluORO

Friday Nov 17. 09.00 – 10.00

Various forms of fluorides have been a very positive development for dental health. Despite the scientifically proven positive effects, there are many who are concerned about the use of fluorides. Social media has spurned many discussions where concerns have been raised. Are the concerns justified? How are we in dentistry and dental health responding to anxious patients and the public in a responsible way? The seminar deals with fluoride intake and how it is associated with various diseases, tooth health effects and toxicology.

Speakers: NIOM Managing Director Jon E. Dahl, Prof. of Cariology, Malmö University, Dan Ericsson and dentist and Ph.D candidate from Karolinska Institutet, Peggy Näsman.

Ljushärdning – så enkelt och så svårt!

Friday Nov 17. 13.30 – 15.00

Light curing is only a small part of dental treatment, and may seem a simple thing to do. But at the same time, the curing lamp quality and light curing technology used can be crucial to the outcome. The seminar will discuss the consequences of too little or too bright light to the filling material, and evaluate the necessity of especially strong curing lamps. Effects of light on the eye, with or without protection, and heat from curing lamps on soft tissue will be presented.

Speakers: NIOM Senior Scientist Ellen Bruzell, NIOM Head of Laboratory Hilde Molvig Kopperud. NIOM Managing Director Jon E. Dahl will moderate.
