Dual-cured luting materials tested according to some of the requirements in

“Dentistry ― Polymer-based restorative materials”

Measurements were performed at NIOM according to ISO 4049:2009. Twelve materials were tested with two shades (if available). The data were collected from 2009 to 2010.

Table 1: Depth of cure measured for the selected products.

Comment: All products tested complied with the requirements, which state that the depth of cure of opaque materials shall be not less than 0.5 mm and other materials not less than 1.5 mm. If the manufacturer states a value, the measured depth of cure shall be not less than 0.5 mm below the stated value.

Table 2: Flexural strength measured for the selected products.

Comment: All products tested complied with the requirements, which state that the flexural strength shall not be less than 50 MPa.

Table 3: Water sorption and solubility measured for the selected products.

Comment: Two products did not comply with the requirements of water sorption, and one product did not comply with both water sorption and water solubility. The requirement of water sorption is ≤ 40 µg/mm³ and the requirement for water solubility is ≤ 7,5 µg/mm³.

Table 4: Shade and color stability assessed for the selected products.

Comment: Three products claim color stability, but one of them did not comply with the requirement. The other products were also tested even though they did not claim any color stability.

Table 5: Information about products, shades, manufacturers and lot numbers.

Table 6: Information about proportions, mixing time, light-curing time and LED-lamp used for the individual products.

Comment: See [Table 2 of “Tested depth of cure and curing lamps”] for the light intensity of bluephase G2 with high power, Demetron A2 and Demi LED.
