A review of data collected for polymer-based restorative materials in the period 2005-2011. -

Forty-two randomly picked materials with some of the shades available were examined for depth of cure, flexural strength, water sorption and water solubility, and shade and color stability.

Composite depth of cure and LED dental curing lamp characteristics -

Depth of cure measurements were performed at NIOM according to ISO 4049. Test materials were Tetric EvoCeram (Ivoclar Vivadent) and Filtek Z250 (3M ESPE) colour A3. These composites were cured with 30 LED lamps using various curing methods and times. The data were collected from 2005 to 2011.

Product testing of five composites -

Product testing of commercial dental polymer-based restorative composites has been conducted on behalf of the Norwegian Ministry of Health and Care Services.

Dentin adhesives -

Adhesion between the restoration and the tooth has been a subject of considerable interest both for scientists and dental practitioner. The aspect of retention needed for survival of dental amalgam restorations has been partly omitted by the introduction of adhesive technology.

Orala zirkoniumdioxidimplantat -

LED (Light Emitting Diodes) technology for curing dental polymeric materials, such as composites, has developed strongly in recent years and a large number of LEDs are currently on the market. (Report in Swedish).

Filling materials -

Repair, expand or replace a composite filling?

Designation of dental alloys -

What is the recommended terminology for designating dental alloys?

Appropriate dental materials for treating elderly, infirm, institutionalized patients -

A report written on the deterioration in dental health that occurs when elderly people move into institutional care.

Allergy and dental materials -

NIOM has received several inquiries from Nordic dental personnel about allergies to components in various dental materials.

Dual-cured luting materials tested -

Dual-cured luting materials tested according to some of the requirements in “Dentistry – Polymer-based restorative materials”.
Measurements were performed at NIOM according to ISO 4049:2009. Twelve materials were tested with two shades (if available). The data were collected from 2009 to 2010.

The uncertainty about the effect of teeth whitening with light initiated this study. The intention was to assess whether the use of optical light could improve the effect of different bleaches. (Report in Swedish).
